Reaching out to African geniuses

A three-weeks outreach to rural areas of different countries in Africa. We will organise different academic and vocational sessions to motivate students towards education and vocational training.

This challenge is designed to encourage African geniuses to search for this knowledge and creatively present it as a poster presentation. 

Our goal is to boost the curiosity and creativity of African teenagers to learn science from their immediate environment. 

Who can participate?

The participant must be an African.

  •  High school student
  • First-year undergraduate student

The Challenge

Submit a poster presentation of the working principle of any electronic device of your choice.

What is a Poster Presentation?

A sheet of paper that contains information about a particular topic or concept. The information is in the form of pictures and texts. 

Format Allowed

Here is a description of the poster format that is accepted for the challenge:

  • Maximum of two pages
  • A printed poster in pdf, doc, jpeg or png (hint: you can use www.canva.com to design your poster)
  • Creatively designed handwritten posters can be scanned as pdf
  • Every entry must include a reference to the source of the information. Include websites, textbook titles, and other resources that were used.
  • Any submission without references will be considered invalid.
  • Every poster must have the name of the student on it.

Submission

  • Visit https://geniusinafrica.org/wpc-submission/ 
  • Fill out the form and upload your poster.
  • For students without internet access, GiA volunteers, family members, and friends can help with the scanning of their handwritten posters and also submit them on their behalf.
  • Phone numbers of parents/guardians can be used if the applicant is not reachable.

Winner’s Prize

The Genius in Africa Working Principle Challenge Team will select a maximum of 25 posters and each of them will be awarded a 20 USD cash prize. 

Winner’s Notification

The winners will be notified via email and phone calls where necessary. Genius in Africa has the right to announce the full name of the winners on  Genius in Africa’s social media platforms. Prizes will be awarded within 30 days of notification.
